On December 19, 1934
Pontinia was founded between the river Sisto and the network of canals.
A year later, on December 18, 1935, Pontinia is completed.

Rural Center
The new rural center was born on a rectangular lot between two canals and two reclamation roads, conceived in close connection with the surrounding area.The synergistic relationship between city and countryside can be found in all the new Pontine foundations.
In this phase the city has definitively lost its metropolitan quality – in which a suffocated working class lives in hardship – and opens up to the countryside, to nature, to the free life of motorized peasants.
The new cities, with their clarity, are the sets of the Regime’s propaganda.
