The foundation stone was laid on August 5, 1933.
Sabaudia was inaugurated on April 15, ’34 by Benito Mussolini himself, in front of a crowd of about twenty thousand people.
Dedicated to the Savoy family, Sabaudia is the second city – after Littoria – to be built in the heart of the Pontine Marshes.
